3 Tips for Buying a Laptop for a College Student

Laptops have become a necessary tool for all college students. They use them to do school work, to write papers, to communicate with friends and family, and to blow off stress with some fun online gaming. The process of finding and buying a laptop is unfortunately a little complex, especially for the non computer geeks out there!

In this short article I'm going to give you some useful, simple tips for choosing the best "college student" laptop for your situation, as well as how to find the best price/best value for that particular model...

Tip 1: Low price doesn't mean cheap. Many parents and students make the mistake of thinking they need to spend a thousand dollars or more on laptop in order to get a good product. That is simply no longer true. Some of the best student-focused notebook and netbook computers on the market cost under $500.

Tip 2: Go light. Many students carry their laptops all day long. So weight is important. More specifically, a low weight is important. Don't make the mistake of getting a super feature-packed computer that weighs a ton. Better to "go light" and save your (or your child's) back!

Tip 3: Processing power is the most important feature. You should take all of a laptop's major features into consideration, but the power of the internal processor chip should be the most important deciding factor. Extra RAM memory can be installed and external hard drives can be bought. Even a nice flat-screen monitor can be hooked up if a small screen turns into an annoying problem. But, for the most part, the only way to improve processing power is to buy a new computer!

So there you have it, 3 simple but ultra-important tips for buying a good laptop for a college student. If you have any of your own tips or feedback please leave them below!
